Our Story

We both grew up in central Illinois, both graduated from the University of Illinois and both were raised in farm families. Our marriage journey began in October of 2002 after dating long distance for two years.

Fast forward a few years, we were living the American Dream! We had three, healthy, amazing children, a beautiful house with a two car garage, a hypoallergenic dog, two good paying jobs, matching furniture, a home theater, a kitchen gadget for just about anything and 11 totes of Christmas decorations. We had everything that society told us we needed to lead a full life! Then why did we feel so empty?
Our Facebook page showed a smiling, perfect little family but we were far from perfect. In fact, our marriage was miserable. We were basically roommates who only communicated about bills and kids. Honestly, we didn't even like each other. Not realizing it, we both had carried a lot of unresolved hurts from the past into our marriage that played out over the years.
Becky struggled with low self esteem and often felt scared, overwhelmed, selfish, judgmental, angry and all around miserable. Because of things in her past, she felt unlovable and broken and it showed. To solve this, she threw herself into raising the kids in an effort to be a perfect mom.
Scott had a secret porn addiction and was constantly striving for wealth and status. He had retreated from Becky and the kids and checked out of his home life completely. Eventually it was revealed that infidelity had become a part of our story.

Miraculously, Jesus healed our marriage and saved both of us individually. God placed in on our hearts immediately that we would be using our story to help others. After nine years of healing and growing towards God and each other, God has officially called us into that ministry. We have been unofficially meeting with individuals and couple over the last several years. Thanks to Mark and Jill Savage, we are now Certified Marriage 2.0 Coaches and our desire is to help other couples in crisis, to listen, guide and help marriages be restored. We also want to equip engaged couples or couples looking to strengthen their marriage with tools that will help them work through the baggage, communicate better, have a stronger connection, increase intimacy and have fun together!

Currently, we are on the brink of having an empty nest! That seemed to happen so quickly. We are looking forward to spending time together, working side by side to help people find hope.
